The children at this campus have an elementary school library and a middle-high school library. Books, of course, computers, meeting and readings rooms and all the technology you could ever want to help you learn or prepare a dazzling report or presentation.

The Visiting Authors
In addition to me there were 3 other authors, Sheree Fitch, Ralph Fletcher and Chris Crutcher.
Sheree Fitch is a perky perky mocha chocolate dragon dragon laugh alot alot.
Ralph Fletcher is a quiet scholarly message kind of guy.
Chris Crutcher is an athletic, say it like it is, thai food kind of guy.
We blended, bonded, laughed, listened, manged and melded together for 2 weeks
What a treat
The Opening Assembly
400 MIddle School Children,grades 6,7 and 8 greeted me at 9:00 AM

Noses

The Administration Knows Noses
What a Welcome
At 6:55 AM we all piled into a school van and set out through bustling traffic to the Shanghai American School. The traffic reminded me of New York with cars, taxis, motorbikes, and bikes jocking for position. No driver seems to look they just go. It was a religious experience. When we arrived at the school this is what greeted us.

Welcome To SAS Pudong

Pat and me
The school was amazing and the kids were wonderful. All the teachers were welcoming and friendly. Pat , the middle school librarian stayed with me the whole day and was kind, supportive and very helpful.

Library Welcome
Things Start Tuesday at the Shanghai American School
There are 2 campuses at the Shanghai American school. I will be at the Pudong campus for week one and at the Puxi campus for week two. Each campus has about 350 middle grade children. There are 3 other authors here besides me. Sheree Fitch www.shereefitch.com and Ralph Fletcher www.ralphfletcher.com are for the elementary school children and Chris Crutcher www.chriscrutcher.com for the High School children.
I begin on Tuesday with an assembly for the entire Pudong middle school. Using magic, humor and red noses I will be talking to them about writing and creativity. After the assembly I visit 3 classes. On Wednesday I visit 4 classes , Thursday 3 classes and a parents talk, and Friday 4 classes.
Every night we are taken out to dinner by a different group. ( HS, MS, and ES librarians, Chinese teachers, parents committee, and teachers committee). Our palates will be treated to tastes and textures from all over the world but I do not think we will be taken to a kosher deli.
Shanghai American School

Middle School here I come
I have been invited to be the visiting author for the Middle Grade children at the Shanghai American School.
It should be a great adventure and I can’t wait to see the kids and talk to them. I am also going to be talking to the parents about handling the stresses of parenting with humor.
Welcome
